The best way to change kids What i feel is that even though crude words are being used, kids these days are starting to use them even if parents think their kids don't. The country i'm staying does not have a jail that's anything like these, and maybe that's why the troublemakers here do not learn. No matter the crude words, violence, whatsoever, i really feel that this is one of the best ways to turn a kid's life around, especially if he/she has a chance of being jailed. Sitting at home watching this would not be as effective as getting it in real life. Charlotte in Greenbay,WI
A&E's hit series "Beyond Scared Straight"
profiles dramatic prison and jail deterrence programs aimed at keeping
today's at-risk teens from becoming tomorrow's prisoners. Each one-hour
episode focuses on a different existing "behind bars" program in the
U.S. and follows four or five at-risk
teens - before they attend the program, throughout their day behind
bars, immediately afterwards - and then following up with them one-month
later to see the lasting impact of the experience on their lives. A
combination of confrontation, information and communication, these
youthful offender programs put boys and girls of all ethnicities,
ranging in age from 11-19, into intensive one-day "incarceration"
sessions that show them the realities of life behind bars. This season,
viewers will see things never seen before in this series: teens are kept
in cells all night in a unique overnight program; a teen is thrown out
for defiant, combative behavior; inmates are tasered and extracted from
cells; and more. BEYOND SCARED STRAIGHT is about transforming the lives
of young people through hope and second-chances.
